Mother Daughter Menstruation Retreat Day

Imagine growing up in a world where your menarche (first period) is celebrated? Imagine being taught as a young girl to understand the cyclic nature of being a woman? Imagine your menstrual cycle being respected for the gift that it is?

Today, young girls face many challenges from school stress, to friendship issues, to body image concerns, to negative societal thoughts about their menstrual cycle and more. It is never easy growing up, but today it seems even more challenging. So how do we help young girls connect to themselves, to the earth and to each other? We teach them how to connect to their own cyclic nature. We show them that they hold a deep wisdom within themselves that provides them with magic and power.

The Mother Daughter Menstruation Retreat Day is a full day workshop held in the sacred space of the circle. The day will be divided into two parts. The morning session is for girls (ages 9 to 13). Together we will explore the following:

:: puberty - what it is, the changes we experience and where we are on our own journey

:: our anatomy and reproductive system

:: menstruation - what it is, what happens in our body throughout our cycle and comparing all the products that are available to us

:: our cyclic nature - creating an awareness that we are cyclic beings and gaining tools to honour, nurture and nourish ourselves

:: charting - a brief introduction to charting so we can better understand and connect to our own cyclic nature and how we ebb and flow throughout the month

After lunch, mothers will join us for the afternoon session where we will gather for a Mother Daughter circle to share, create and connect.

It is my hope that this workshop will provide young girls with the tools they need to understand their cyclic nature and gain tools to create a deep, life long connection to their moon cycle, as well as connect mothers and daughters to support them in deepening their mother daughter connection.
